Crazy Cobwebs

Early this week we had a very frosty morning which allowed some amazing cobwebs to be on display.

Bonny Bunting

A mixed week of weather. On Tuesday it was red hot and since then there has been a cold north or east wind. I have managed to catch up on all my gardening in the farm garden and most of my home garden. I have masses of plants to plant out this weekend and a lot of work to do on the allotment. Last night we had rain so the hard soil is now easier to dig.
The flower borders are looking colourful.

A pretty hellebore.

I love forget me nots and they form a border along the paths in the farm garden.

The laburnum is looking lovely with its trailing blossoms.

Cornwall and Cobwebs

Autumn is approaching. We are starting to get cool misty mornings that turn into lovely sunny days. The beauty about this weather is that the cobwebs are so spectacular as they capture the dewdrops. There are often strands of cobwebs covering long distances.

All my pottery houses are attracting the spiders
Round and round and round

So intricate
There are still butterflies about and I have seen a lot of peacock butterflies in the garden.

Sometimes it is good to pause and look carefully at a flower to see it's structure. This yellow daisy has layered ridged petals.

Pointed petals and the stamens have yellow tops and brown stalks
The white cosmos is still in full flower.

Fluted petals and yellow stud centres
Zinnias come in some striking colours.

On holiday in Cornwall we had a meal in the Old Ferryboat Inn.

We walked along the coast from Polruan to Polperro and saw some woody nightshade on the way.

The rock formations on the Cornish coastline are dramatic.

Daisy Chain who lives in my home garden has just acquired a new outfit. I think the feather boa may be a tad too large.

The countryside is very colourful as the rape seed fields are in full flower.

The woad I started growing last year is now in flower. You use the leaves to make a beautiful blue dye.
